Modern Discussions on Air Pollution in Megacities

Nowadays, it can be seen very rare news on discussion about air pollution. Very high levels of air pollution have been observed in many major cities across both developed and developing economies of the world cities with varying degrees of regularity. In particular, the chemistry aspects has a major responsibility to play both of informing the development of cost-effective mitigation strategies and understanding the causes of high air pollutant concentrations. The chemical reactions of air pollutants can transform from one to another (secondary pollutants), which have a main parameter on measured levels and the influence of emerging emission sources and changing climate on air quality and health. We should understand the relative contributions of local emissions and the pollutants transported to the city from more distant sources. Figure 1. Urbanization is one of the leading global trends of the 21 st century that has a significant impact on health. Today around 55% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, a proportion that is expected to be increase of 68% by 2050. As most future urban growth will take place in developing cities, the world today has a unique opportunity to guide urbanization and other major urban development trends in a way which protects and promotes health. AN ALERT ON CONTAMINATION OF WATER TO SPREAD COVID-19

Recently, G. D. Bhowmick et al., have a review reported the current scenario on the possibility of faecal–oral transmission of COVID-19 and related water contamination along with the precautionary measures that need to be taken by the government as well as by the individuals with an eye on knowledge-based scientific resolution to confront the COVID-19 outbreak [1] . The researchers have discussed the major routes of SARS-CoV-2 transmission involve respiratory droplets and direct contact, the infection through faecal matter is also possible. Conventional sewage treatment methods with disinfection are expected to eradicate SARS-CoV-2. NANOTECHNOLOGY vs COVID-19

  “ Nanotechnology-based antimicrobial and antiviral formulations can prevent SARS-CoV-2 viral dissemination, and highly sensitive biosensors and detection platforms may contribute to the detection and diagnosis of COVID-19 ” reported by Sepehr Talebian, Gordon G. Wallace, Avi Schroeder, Francesco Stellacci and Joao Conde on August 2020 in Nature Nanotechnology [1] .   Scientists around the world have made promising strides towards developing approaches to prevent COVID-19 [2] .
